KS 51
Across demanding day to day production environments, EWMenn’s screw head slotting machines deliver consistent performance and real added value. With their durable construction and EWMenn’s trademark commitment to quality, these machines offer unrivalled operational lifespans of over 30 to 40 years. However, technological progress can also affect spare parts supply: some components are no longer commercially viable or have disappeared from the market altogether. Now more than ever, engineering is a passion for transformation and improvement.
At the Wire 2026, EWMenn unveiled the all new, fully re engineered KS 51 screw head slotting machine, built on the company’s proven slotting concept. Evolving the trusted KS 5 series, this model brings an established machine type right up to the very latest state of the art.
The KS 51 spans an impressively broad size range, from the smallest screws to bolts up to 6 mm in diameter and 50 mm in shank length. Depending on feeder performance, output rates of up to 1,000 parts per minute can be achieved. This enables versatile use in both small batch operations and high volume production, with minimal wear and consistently outstanding product quality.
Here too, EWMenn uses powerful, energy efficient servo technology for both the feed dial and the saw blade drive. This provides a wide, infinitely variable control range so that feed rates for screws and bolts can be adjusted precisely to the most efficient output level. As a result, throughput can be optimally aligned with cutting speed, feed and material grade. Designed for through feed production, the machine’s continuously variable drives ensure perfectly synchronized, vibration free operation. This minimizes tool wear and achieves clean slotting with uniform depth and a smooth base, even in high strength steels and special alloys. Depending on the product and material, users can choose between dry operation, production with a new and highly efficient minimum quantity lubrication system or the classic flush cooling system. In all three cases, chips are reliably removed into the designated collection container. The new quick change saw blade function, using pre settable face clamping chucks, elevates the set up process to a whole new level and enormously reduces changeover times. The machine has been engineered to support standard clamping systems from a range of manufacturers, giving users maximum flexibility in both set up and sourcing. The tools of the deburring unit are designed for ease of use and intuitively positioned for quick, convenient adjustment.
Optional add ons include units for milling 2 flat spanner surfaces or with a device for face oriented slotting of square (4 flat) and hex (6 flat) screws, offering added flexibility for a wide range of applications. The machine can also be optionally prepared for a feeding system to produce pins resp. headless parts as required.
Thanks to the standard note function for set up parameters and the intelligent iQ – Setup Assist, product and tool specific cutting data can be adopted at the touch of a button. During operation, actual values are then continuously monitored and compared with stored target values. Optimizing processes is straightforward, with any deviations from stored set up parameters clearly displayed for the operator. For the first time, an intelligent sensor system for part monitoring is included as standard. The camera based inspection system with storable product parameters simplifies setup compared to conventional mechanical methods. This impressive system precisely scans the heads of the parts against their permitted geometry. If tolerances are exceeded or not met, the machine stops, visualizes the fault and prompts corrective adjustment. This increases process reliability and produces fault-free components that consistently meet the required quality standards and specifications. These tools also support less experienced operators or newcomers to the field with reproducible set up processes, minimized changeover times and maximizes machine availability in demanding production environments. Another standard feature is the proven EWMenn Prevent & Support system, which automatically displays maintenance guidance for planned servicing on a modern, intuitive touchscreen.
The machine delivers consistently outstanding quality at superior output rates. Clean, burr free, centrally positioned slots ensure high assembly precision for screws and bolts, even with complex head shapes and challenging materials. A key advantage is that, by entering the required slot dimensions, the raw material grade and other relevant saw blade parameters, the intelligent system automatically calculates precise recommendations for speed and feed rate. To maximize efficiency and optimize process settings, the system also indicates the expected production volume.
Users also benefit from the fact that existing tooling and interchange parts, such as feed dials and saw blades with diameters of 63.0 mm and 80.0 mm, as well as segments from the previous model, are fully compatible and can be seamlessly reused on the new machine type.
With this new machine type, EWMenn combines top performance in series production with precision, efficiency, flexibility and product safety – providing customers with lasting value through practical innovations.
